Embarking on the Blender Adventure

Hey everyone! So, remember that earlier post about my husband’s animation project in the town of Slushenburgh? Well, guess who’s diving into the world of Blender? Yours truly! Our girls invented this town on a road trip to SeaWorld. My husband has been hard at work creating storylines and characters. Now, it’s my turn to bring a magical creature to life. How hard can it be, right?

Learning the Ropes

I have to admit, diving into Blender and learning how to create various files was a tad overwhelming at first. But I’ve been following the “Beginner’s Guide to Creating Characters in Blender” by 3DTotal Publishing. Let me tell you, it’s been a rollercoaster of shapes and extrusions! Right now, I’ve got a basic head and body shape for the creature. The eyes aren’t exactly my favorite feature at the moment. We’ll see how they evolve as I get more comfortable with the software. Every time I have attempted the limbs, I have not been happy. So, I will save those for a later time.

Pushing Through the Challenges

Blender can be daunting, especially when you’re juggling vertices and trying to make everything look just right. But I’m starting to get the hang of it, and it’s oddly satisfying to see progress, even if it’s slow. After the book’s instructions, I realize that the basics seem universal no matter what creature shape you’re after. This realization is quite reassuring. It’s fun, and I feel like I’m unlocking a new level of creativity within myself.

The Road Ahead

So, there’s still a long way to go, but I’m optimistic. With each step, I’m learning more about Blender and how to create these unique files. Hopefully, it won’t take me too long to figure everything out, because trust me, it’s going to be magical when it all comes together!
